Arctic Life | ← More Protists The Oomycota contains four distinctive subgroups, three of which are found in the High Arctic, one of which inhabits freshwater. The Saprolegniales (water moulds) include species of Achlya and Saprolegnia that are common saprotrophs in freshwater habitats. One species, Saprolegnia parasitica, is an important pathogen in arctic charr.
