From Arctic Bioscan Wiki

This fungus is found in sandy or peaty soils, or in moss cushions, on the tundra. It also occurs in Sphagnum bogs farther south. This is an example of a lichenized fungus that has a bipolar distribution. P. luteovitellina forms conspicuous, bright yellow fruiting bodies that are easy to spot against the green-brown background colours of the thallus and rock substrate on which they grow.
